“Don’t Worry , Be Happy”
Creating Health and Happiness in your Life lets you be more productive, efficient and healthier—learn how
Aurora, CO, March 21, 2007 – The words “Don’t worry, be happy”, from the Grammy Award winning song of the year for 1989 by Bobby McFerrin, still ring true today, and Aurora Mental Health Center would like you to learn how to create health and happiness in your life.
In a series of four consecutive events, Ron Markovich, LCSW, and Karen Levine, LPC, will be offering an eight-hour class on creating health and happiness in your life. The class will look at practices that have been found to increase health and happiness. Can money really buy happiness? To register for the Creating Health and Happiness in your Life Class starting April 2, call 303-617-2300.
According to a recent CNN report, a happier person is more likely to be more productive, efficient and healthier. People say they know happiness as an emotion, a state of mind, something to shoot for, but when it comes to defining happiness, they are uncertain how to articulate it.
Happiness is often associated with the presence of favorable circumstances. Unfavorable circumstances, such as abusive relationships, accidents and conflicts can diminish the amount of happiness a person experiences, but happiness can be influenced by the attitude and perspective taken in those situations.
Harvard psychologist and author Daniel Gilbert blames our culture, our genes and our imagination. But research has shown it is possible to be happier, to feel more satisfied, to be more engaged with life, find more meaning, have high hopes and probably even laugh and smile more, regardless of one’s circumstances.
The intentions for the course are to learn practices, ways of being, thinking and acting that increase happiness and health such as:
- Exploring what it means to take 100% responsibility for your life;
- Learn the distinction of fact and story;
- Learn how to live in the Now and how to live your life fully in the present;
- Increase self-esteem. Improve relationships;
- Learn the Secret—How to apply the law of attraction into your life;
- And many more.
The class, and life, is often more powerful if you take it with a friend who will support you on whatever journey you take on for yourself. So, bring a friend if you like and “Don’t worry, be happy”.
Cost for the course is $80 per person for the complete eight-hour session, and begins April 2, continuing on April 9, 16, and 23. All sessions will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Viewpoint Plaza, 11059 E. Bethany Drive, Suite 200, Aurora.
