Rachel Nuñez honored at Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council’s Annual Conference in Breckenridge on October 3, 2009

Rachel Nuñez, Aurora Mental Health Center board member, honored with CBHC’s Outstanding Board Member Award.

October 3, 2009, Beckenridge, CO – Rachel Nuñez, Aurora Mental Health Center board member, was honored at Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council’s Annual Conference in Breckenridge with the councils’ Outstanding Board Member Award for 2009.

Rachel has served on Aurora Mental Health Center’s board for three years and is currently chair of the Development Committee, the board Executive Committee, and the Community Relations/Legislation Committee.

Rachel is a sergeant with the Aurora Police Department. She has received Crisis Intervention Training, a program designed to prepare police officers that come in contact with a person with a severe mental illness. Rachel has been instrumental in working with officers that have received CIT training, as well as advocating CIT training for all officers.

As a police officer and respected leader in the community, Rachel is keenly aware and very involved with the issues that face our community. As chair of the Development Committee, she leads the organization and implementation of our annual fundraising luncheon, and with her husband also is active in their family foundation, the Nuñez Foundation.

Rachel is fair, honest, and with her sense of humor and leadership ability, is a wonderful, hard working addition to our Board.
