Aurora Vistas Foundation Announces 2nd Annual “For Our Kids” Afternoon Tea Benefit and Welcomes Colorado’s First Lady Jeannie Ritter.

January 27, 2009, Aurora, CO – Friday, February 13th, Aurora Vistas Foundation will hold its 2nd Annual “For Our Kids” Afternoon Tea Benefit at 1 – 3 p.m. at the elegant Grand-Humphreys Mansion on 770 Pennsylvania Street in Denver. Come and enjoy fine teas, delightful foods, and live classical music by Celebration Quartet. In addition, we are pleased to be joined by Colorado’s First Lady Jeannie Ritter, and will be featuring ceramic teapots painted by local celebrities to be presented in a live auction at the end of the event.

Aurora Vistas Foundation works to raise awareness of the issues facing Aurora’s children and their families though community education. Funds raised will support programs for specials needs. These programs include:

Early Childhood and Family Center: offering a comprehensive range of services for young children with emotional or behavioral difficulties and their families.
Metro Children’s Center: a day treatment program for children in first through eighth grades. These children receive individual and group therapy, and attend school in a special-education setting.
The Intercept Center: a collaborative project of Aurora Mental Health Center and Aurora Public schools open to children with a developmental disability and mental illness.
Hampden Academy: Therapeutic school offering a structured educational and therapeutic program for teens, as well as an intensive outpatient program.

Many of these programs and services that help children and their families cope with a mental illness would not exist without community and business involvement. Join Aurora Vistas for Afternoon Tea “For Our Kids” and help our community to secure funding to support special projects for Aurora children.
