History: Awards and Recognitions

2007

  • Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council selected the Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Development (L.E.A.D.) program as the winner of the 2007 Golden Abacus Award for its best practices in the non-clinical arena and a model for other centers to emulate.
  • Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Development (L.E.A.D.) program was recognized by the national Annapolis Coalition on the Behavioral Health Workforce as one of the top, most innovative programs in the area of leadership nationwide.

2006

  • The Colorado Division of Mental Health named the Center as the number one Community Mental Health Center in Colorado.

2005

  • The Center was selected by the Colorado Division of Mental Health to oversee and manage mental health response to the Hurricane Katrina survivors who were evacuated to Colorado.

2004

  • The Latino Family Connection Project was awarded Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council's Golden Lightbulb Award for its innovation, usefulness, integration, transferable, and culturally sensitive capabilities.

2002

  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services chose to fund an alliance between the Center and the Metro Community Provider Network to bring integrated behavioral and primary care to homeless adults.

2001

  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services named the Center to be a part of a nationwide effort to bring the very best treatment for children who have suffered serious trauma.

2000

  • The Center as named one of the top Community Mental Health Centers in Colorado by the Colorado Division for Mental Health.

1999

  • The Colorado Division of Mental Health named the Center as the number one Community Mental Health Center in Colorado.
  • The Center's Wellness Program received Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council's Golden Lightbulb Award for innovation.
  • MSNBC's Champions of Industry series, representing mental health, featured Aurora Mental Health Center and was broadcast nationally.

1993

  • The Therapeutic Preschool Program (now called Early Childhood and Family Center) was named Program of the Year by the Colorado Mental Health Association.

1989

  • The Dual Disability Program for persons with a mental illness and a developmental disability was named Program of the Year by the Colorado Mental Health Association.

1985

  • The Community Living Program for persons with a chronic mental illness was named Program of the Year by the National Council of Community Mental Health Centers.

1982

  • The Older Adults Program was named Program of the Year by the Colorado Mental Health Association.
