“Helping Early – When It Matters Most”

Early Childhood and Family Center (ECFC) provides comprehensive mental health treatment for infants and children up to age six. Many of these children have been victimized, traumatized, abused, abandoned, or have experienced emotional or behavioral difficulties which interfere with learning and developing relationships. Individual, family, and group therapies are integrated to best serve the needs of each child and family and the team offers parenting classes and support groups. The program uses a number of evidence based treatments including Parent-Child Interactional Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, The Incredible Years, Nurturing Parenting Program, Trauma Focused-CBT, and Relational Assessments.

Student Placements Available and Requirements: 1-2 placements for students available. Required – 20 hours and 3 days per week. Some evening hours to accommodate families are necessary. Trainees must be available Thursdays 9:00am until 3:00pm for Intakes, ECFC Team Meeting & Training Meeting. Nurturing Parenting Program or Incredible Years Parenting Program are typically offered in the evenings, so the student would need to participate in group facilitation one evening a week until 8 pm. Team intake times are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9am, but alternate times can be set for weekly trainee intake slot. Good communication and relationship skills are essential as is the ability to accept direction in supervision. The successful applicant must be reliable and dependable, because s/he will be assuming responsibility for maintaining an ongoing therapy schedule. We look for candidates with knowledge of early childhood development, experience working with young children and a strong desire to work with this population.
